m Kelly Liszt, and you could say writing is in my genes. In the 1950s, my grandmother worked for an advertising agency and wrote the first television variety program that aired in the Southwest.
Fast forward to 1995, when I began my writing career. I worked for two trade magazines in Washington, DC, an experience that gave me exposure to feature writing and also helped me gain entry into the National Press Club. From there, I moved to London, where I worked as a PR account executive. I used my skills writing press releases, case studies and feature articles for clients.
I moved back to the States, and by 2000 I earned a Master’s degree in journalism with a focus
in advertising. Next, I worked as a direct response copywriter for Rapp Collins Worldwide as well as Javelin Direct. My clients included two loyalty programs, Hyatt Gold Passport and Continental Airlines OnePass, as well as DIRECTV, Yahoo! DSL, DISH, Cingular and SBC Telecom.
I then became a copywriter for DDB, where my main clients were Carnival Cruise Lines and the Florida Lottery. There I used my creative and copywriting talents for TV, radio and print ads, billboards, online content and collateral materials. When I began freelancing a few years ago,
I wrote copy for Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, TotalBank, 900 Biscayne Bay and
95 Express, among many others.
Outside of my professional life, I am married to a wonderful guy and mommy to an adorable little girl. I also volunteer my time and writing skills for the Children’s Craniofacial Association.
